When it comes to outlining my idea for my Final major project its quite a difficult task, not because the idea is so complex I the creator cant even describe it, but because the shape my product can take is so vast. Firstly I will tell you the bare bones of my concept. The idea is that I am a Record label owner of "As heard in the Warehouse recordings" this label mainly represents and sells House/ Dance records and its main audience is Dance fans, which still to this day is the biggest growing genre in the world. So you are thinking how can this link to my Final Major Product.
My idea is to produce a set of three productions all based round the same concept, a new up and coming DJ who is in the "As Heard In The Warehouse recordings" studio and we are interviewing this young DJ about his experiences as a DJ, what it takes to become one and what his inspirations are? what his aspirations are as a DJ? The interview will be on the back drop of one of the DJ's live sets. The Studio will be lit with all sorts of lights to make it look really cool. The product will be shot live as part of a Multi camera shoot. There will be 5 cameras in total, 4 studio cameras and then one camera which will be birds eye view of the DJ and his decks.
The interview/ live performance will be used to promote the Record label and show that they are still promoting up and coming DJ's. As well as this the video can be used massively to help showcase and promote the DJ. The DJ's name is Ben Law.
I said earlier on that it will be split into 3 products; there will be the original, the one I have described above, the interview running alongside the performance, the second product is a 1 minute long trailer for the DJ, using clips of the performance and the main quotes from the interview, the third product is a completely different live mix (different genre) which is purely to give the Target audience (Dance music fans) just a music experience.
My idea has came a real journey from where its started, it started as a cinematic documentary showing the live performance and a in depth interview. Although the idea has changed I believe its still a strong idea and that it has a destination for a web series on a YouTube channel tracking the journey of young, up and coming DJ's. As well creating a promotional portfolio for the DJ. It has multiple destination points.
My hope is that the final product will be appreciated and will help push the career of Ben Law forward.
